The Company and the Role :
The company is the International Peacekeeping Force which operates in the Sinai. As part of its role it maintains two military camps one in the North close to the Mediterranean coast and one in the South near Sharm El Sheikh.
They are currently seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Manager to be based at the South Camp located near Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
The position is offered on a 2 year contract, renewable.
Key Features of the Role :
You will be responsible for the planning and supervision of all vehicle maintenance, rectification and refurbishment activity required to maintain Force s 600 strong vehicle fleet.
Each vehicle is to be maintained so that it is fit for purpose, safe, roadworthy and presentable. The fleet comprises commercial light and heavy vehicles, (non-
military) armoured vehicles, fuel and water tankers and airfield specialist fire-fighting vehicles.
You will be responsible for the management, co-ordination and supervision of the expatriate and local workforce employed to maintain vehicles.
The workforce comprises 10 supervisory staff, 52 vehicle technicians, 24 of whom are employed at FOB-N and 28 at South Camp, and 2 military personnel who oversee the allocation of vehicles throughout the Force in accordance with an HQ approved management plan.
You also will act as the Budget Line Manager for vehicle maintenance and oversees expenditure on each of the relevant budget lines.
You will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for parts selection regarding fit for purpose, original equipment manufacturer or approved recognised alternative parts management.
Knowledge and Skills :
You will be an accomplished Vehicle Maintenance Manager with a High School graduate background supplemented with formal technical training and / or apprenticeship as a vehicle service technician which results in certification is the bare minimum qualification.
Training is to be equivalent to U.K. City and Guilds standard or U.S. 2-year Junior College / Tech School standards or other educational programs such as those conducted by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
Ideally you will have a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) or equivalent for Transport Management.
Preference will be given to candidates who have accomplished a continuous process of skills training covering a wide range of automotive service subjects such as maintenance and repair, break-
down analysis, service writing and management, parts ordering and vehicle electronics and diagnosis.
You should have extensive experience in vehicle servicing with experience of being in in a leadership position responsible for vehicle fleet maintenance and repair operations.
Ideally you will have prior experience with General Motors, Mack and Volvo product lines including light types such as sedans, pickups, SUV and vans and heavy vehicles such as semi-
tractors, tankers, trailers, dump trucks etc.
You must have a positive customer service outlook.
Previous experience in a military environment and / or Middle East would be helpful.
You must be computer literate with word processing / spreadsheets and ideally have experience in using SAP ERP software along with vendor specific ECU and diagnostic systems.
You should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. The ability to speak some Spanish and / or Arabic is desirable but not essential.
You should be a confident communicator with the ability to supervise, motivate, coach and train a team of local nationals.
You will be flexible, possess initiative and able to pick things up quickly.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Finally, you should be pc literate and possess a Drivers Licence.
What s on Offer?
The basic salary of around £63,500 per annum will be paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
Included in the basic salary is a 20% location allowance payable and also a 7% allowance in lieu of a pension scheme, both of which are tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
A 2 year unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, health insurance and meals.
In addition employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The holiday entitlement is 28 days plus 12 public holidays.
Our client does not provide a specified number of free flights but awards a cash sum each year in US Dollars which the employee can spend as they wish to facilitate their R and R leave.
Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
