The Role Purpose
To ensure the British Council maintains its reputation as the highest quality provider of English Language Teaching by providing effective support to the management of Egypt Adult products and services, making a contribution to the development and expansion of the Adult business.
To maintain and enhance professional development and academic quality in the teaching centre, and to ensure that British Council Egypt is an example of UK ELT best practice.
Essential Requirements :
UK or Egyptian passport holders only due to local restrictions.
Undergraduate degree only if required by local law
Cambridge Delta / Trinity Diploma in TESOL, minimum Module 1 and Module 2
British Council approved observer status or willingness to complete training within 6 months of taking up post
High proficiency in English i.e. full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8 / 9 in each of the 4 sections of the academic module
An experienced teaching professional able to support less experienced colleagues in teaching practice and quality of teaching delivery.
Equivalent to around 2 years of post-certificate i.e. CELTA / Trinity cert TESOL teaching experience
Experience in teaching relevant age groups
Primary aged 6 to 10 (400+ hours)
Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (800+ hours)
Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (400+ hours)
Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours)
Desirable Requirements :
Experience in teaching :
Corporate offsite courses
Additional specialist qualifications such as PGCE / B.ED in Primary, YL Extension to CELTA, or IELTS examiner status
Contract start date : April June 2020 depending on interview dates
