Job Summary :
Corrosion & Material Engineer reviews the metallurgy of the equipment and piping of refineries units as and when required and makes recommendations for up grading as required, reviews the operating conditions to assess and monitor corrosive conditions and evaluates the material performance in corrosive streams, reviews the metallurgy for the modifications and major projects, updates procedures and specifications related to corrosion Management & Inspection activities and recommends repairs / operating parameters to extend the life of equipment and piping.
The Corrosion & Material Engineer is reporting to the Inspection Manager.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION :
An Oil Refinery Located in Mostorod Area , Cairo , EGYPT, with capacity 140,000 BPD, Operates different units as NHT, CCR, DHT, HCU, HPU, VDU, DCU, DEU, Sour Water Stripping Unit , Amine Treatment and Regeneration Unit, Utilities, Sulfur Recovery Unit , and TGU.
Determine different corrosion forms and damage mechanisms in oil & gas production and refinery equipment.
Predict effect of process changes & upsets on degradation mechanism.
Liaise with production department to collect actual process data and determine areas susceptible to degradation based on change in process parameters and chemistry.
Share in preparation of corrosion circuits and damage mechanisms as an input to RBI study and assign proper NDT for detection.
Material selection to suit environment requirements based on NACE MR-175 and MR-103.
Analyse, interpret corrosion coupons, ER probes data and calculate corrosion rates.
Develop CUI, Dead legs and injection point’s inspection scheme.
Issue and rollout bolted joints integrity management procedure.
Chemical cleaning of process equipment.
Failure analysis including field and laboratory (Metallography) investigations including sample preservation.
Chemicals injection system management including inhibitor and biocides efficiency monitoring.
Analyse and interpret cathodic protection potential surveys data.
Aware of flow assurance & sand monitoring procedure.
Conduct corrosion risk assessments.
Internal & External pipeline corrosion investigation and integrity assessment (ICDA & ECDA).
Provide technical advice related to pigging operation & ILI.
Required Qualifications :
Experience with the above key duties and responsibilities described above are essential
Good knowledge of computers skills
English language speak and written
Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision
NACE Certified Basic Corrosion.
NACE Certified Designing for Corrosion Control.
NACE Certified Internal Corrosion For pipelines ICP.
NACE Certified CP 2.
Familiar with latest API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, TEMA, NACE codes / standards.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED : Position requires 5-8 Years of experience in the area of operational plant maintenance. Experience in petrochemical processes, people supervision, contracts administration and budgeting control is also required.
